Thai Tea, Espresso Style? Yep—and It's Amazing
When most people think espresso, they think coffee. But what happens when you switch the grounds for loose-leaf Thai tea?
Marc, our in-house Q-grader (aka taste-testing scientist), gave it a try. He loaded up our espresso machine—not with coffee, but with Thai tea—and pulled a shot just like he would for espresso.
The result? A deep, concentrated burst of Thai tea flavor. Bold, smooth, and slightly sweet, it tasted incredible both on its own and when turned into a milk tea or tea latte.
Here’s what stood out:
- Flavor Concentration: The espresso machine pulls a tighter, richer tea than traditional steeping.
- Speed: It’s faster than brewing a full pot or waiting on a cold brew.
- Perfect for Lattes: Add milk or your favorite alt-milk and it’s an instant tea latte.
- Consistency: Each shot delivers the same punch every time.
Marc’s experiment wasn’t just a one-off idea. We’re sharing this now to show the tea community at the
World Tea Expo in Las Vegas that we’re not just about coffee—we’re about pushing what’s possible with flavor, tools, and technique.
This is more than a cool trick. It’s a potential new method for cafés, baristas, and tea lovers looking to serve something unexpected and exciting.
Would You Try It?
If you're a tea pro or café owner looking for something fresh, consider this: using espresso machines for tea could add a bold twist to your menu without needing new gear. It’s a smart way to stand out.
