The Producer Roaster Forum (PRF) recently wrapped up in Honduras, and it wasn’t just another industry event. For those passionate about where coffee comes from and who grows it, PRF delivered something more: real conversations, shared knowledge, and new connections. Enter Pono Collective, a movement powered by Savor Brands that's bridging the divide between coffee producers and roasters. With boots on the ground in Central America and a growing presence in Hawai'i, Pono Collective is making sure the people behind the beans are finally seen, heard, and supported.

Video Spotlight: Christian of Alpen Sierra Coffee

The innovation is going strong, and I’m really stoked to see that.” – Christian Waskiewicz, Alpen Sierra Coffee
Christian, founder of Alpen Sierra Coffee, made a meaningful return to Guatemala after two decades. Thanks to Pono Collective, he reconnected with the roots of the industry and was blown away by how far innovation has come. That trip sparked a new collaboration with Ernesto and Liza of Cafe LʻEtranger in El Salvador, resulting in a one-of-a-kind coffee now featured on Alpen Sierra’s website. Even more exciting? It marked Alpen Sierra’s first direct relationship coffee, a major milestone in its company history. This is exactly what Pono Collective is all about—connecting passionate people to create something bigger than the cup.

So many people have no idea what farmers really go through… dealing with fertilizers, nurturing crops, trying to grow great coffee—it’s a serious commitment. – Spala, Savor Brands
About a year ago, Pono Collective held its second event in Central America, inviting some of the most respected roasters from around the world to engage with local coffee-growing communities in El Salvador and Guatemala. Spala (@savorkofe_spala), the Office Manager at Savor Brands, experienced the journey of coffee firsthand. From walking the farms to meeting the farmers, he saw what it really takes to bring coffee from the fields to your cup. This isn’t just about coffee—it's about education, awareness, and connection. Since 2022, Pono Collective has been creating real opportunities in Hawai'i and El Salvador, linking up culinary and hospitality students with coffee professionals and industry mentors.
